This urn and pedestal set stands over 7 feet tall or breaks up into 4 pieces, has an iron-aged look that is great flanking a doorway or used as focal point. With the Classic European design, it is impressive and sturdy, yet lightweight GFRC. Isle of Crete Olive Oil Jar replica is large (4.5′ tall x 4′ wide) and quite impressive! Don't let this happen!

If you own a fountain or birdbath, it’s time to winterize! Why winterize? To prevent water from freezing in them, causing them to crack and remove any finish they may have on them.

Extreme and rapid changes in temperature and humidity adversely affect concrete products because concrete has an inherent tendency to expand and contract with climatic conditions. For this reason, our concrete fountains were manufactured with a mixture that contains fiber and mechanical additives that enhance the elastic qualities of the concrete. This does not mean, however, that they are resistant to cracking. It just means you have to take the necessary steps towards prevention. Here are some simple rules to follow to prevent your fountain from cracking:

1. Remove the rubber stopper from the largest bowl (tap out using a hammer and screwdriver);
2. Drain all the water from each bowl thoroughly;
3. Remove the pump and store inside for the winter;
4. Place a fountain cover* over the entire fountain and secure; and
5. Check the cover throughout the winter (especially after heavy winds) to make sure it is still secure.

*We have fountain covers available for purchase ranging in size from small at $29 to extra large at $129. It is imperative that you make sure to remove all water from the pump housing and bowls prior to covering.

To winterize your birdbath, drain all the water from the bowl, and turn the bowl upside down or lean vertically against the pedestal (to prevent water from getting in the bowl and freezing).

If water has already frozen in your fountain or birdbath, then purchase RV antifreeze (pink in color and safe for the environment) and pour into all bowls. The ice will turn into a slushy mix, so you can finish the winterizing process.

Fall is the best time to get your yard ready for next spring!! 

1. Give your plants a head start for spring by allowing the roots to get established for the heat.
2. Demand less care (i.e. less water) because of cooler weather.
3. Provide more pleasant working conditions as the temperatures begin to cool.

The next question you may ask is…what kind of plants can I plant in the fall?

You can plant most trees, shrubs, perennial flowers, grasses and roses, as long as weather conditions are right.  Broad-leafed evergreens, Dogwoods, Magnolias, and other tender trees should be planted early (before the end of October) so they can establish new roots before the temperature drops too much.  Most other hardy, woody, ornamental plants may be planted until the ground freezes.  Perennial flowers are usually best planted or divided in the fall before the ground starts to freeze.  Don’t resist planting them in the fall just because they happen to be out of bloom; they will have beautiful flowers in the spring!

Fall bulbs are the easiest of all flowers to plant, grow, and have bloom because all the nutrients the bulbs need are already stored inside when you buy them.  It is almost impossible to make a mistake planting fall bulbs, but keeping them healthy year after year requires a little more care. The most important steps for planting and keeping bulbs healthy are as follows:

1. Prepare the soil before planting.
2. Choose healthy bulbs.
3. Plan your design.
4. Plant bulbs properly.
5. Take care of your bulbs properly after they bloom.

Sound easy enough?  The hardest part about fall planting is deciding what to grow and knowing where to buy it!  Well, we’ve even made those decisions easy for you!
